The Law of the Concordat. Translated, with Introduction and Notes,
by L. G. Wickham Legge, M.A. (S.P.C.K. 4d.)—We venture to say that of the hundreds of thousands of people who have read about the difference between the French Government and the Papacy, and who have formed, and even expressed, opinions about it, few are acquainted with the facts. Not every one, certainly, knows that the Concordat and the Law of the Con- cordat (Loi du 18 Germinal, an. X.) are distinct things, 'that the first is an agreement binding on France and the Pope, the other a French law, against which the Papacy has from the first protested. Here we have the law, with an explanatory introduc- tion and notes.
