Resisting the euro
From Mr Harold Green Sir: It seems that, in order to get their hands on extra cash from the EU, certain anti-euro MEPs are pawning their ability to effectively promote the withdrawalist cause. This is not what they were elected to do. They were elected to 'Keep the Pound and Leave the European Union'. That is what their election literature clearly stated and that is what those who voted for them wanted, The MEPs affected all seem to belong to an EU party grouping known as EDD (Europe of Democracies and Diversities). An apt name because they seem to diversify in any direction that suits them at the time. The EDD is a group that wants countries to work together in co-operation within the European Union. The president of EDD, Jens-Peter Bond, is on record as saying, 'From my point of view it makes no sense to work for withdrawal,' The tactic of standing at the Euro-election is a good one for those opposed to the EU because when there are enough like-minded MEPs from across Europe they will be able to cause the EU plenty of trouble. But all those MEPs should keep well clear of bribes because their effectiveness will be severely impaired if they accept them.
