Many a man who knows what Mechanics' Institutions have done,
and may do, would regret to see the earliest of such bodies pass away. Accord- ingly, strong efforts have been made to save from collapse the institution in Southampton Buildings, among whose trustees is Lord Brougham. Those efforts have made great way towards success; and the meeting in Willie's Rooms on Monday should be attended by all who desire to help the chairman of the day, Lord Carlisle, in finishing the work well.
