Writing the Short Story. By J. Berg Esenwein. (Andrew Melrose.
6s. net.)—Mr. Esenwein, being the editor of " Lippin- cott's Magazine," has presumably read as many short stories as anyone ; and from his wide experience he has produced "a practical handbook on the rise, structure, writing, and sale of the modern short story." The result is an exceedingly elaborate treatise, out of which the student may learn everything necessary for his purpose, from introspection to type-writing.
