Serious railway accidents are so rare in Great Britain that

the terrible accident near Sevenoaks on Wednesday evening will long be remembered. The 5 p.m. express from Cannon Street to Deal was derailed while travelling at high speed, and we learn with profound regret that tweh•e persons were killed, and forty-eight injured.
