The latest exploit of the Military League in Greece is
the proposal to denounce certain officials who are said to be guilty of corruption or inefficiency. It was expected that the pro- scription list would be published on Wednesday, but the Times correspondent says that on Monday night the Prime Minister conferred with the leaders of the League and explained that the proposed denunciations would produce acute unrest and financial depression. He himself would undertake to remove the incriminated officials, but it must be done quietly and gradually. M. Mavromichaeli appears to have satisfied these military Tertullians for the time being, and the officials are not immediately to be judged and found wanting by the ready testa of men who appear to think that the body politic of Greece can be reformed at the word of command.
