With Charity for All
SIR.—I have just seen your excellent article 'With Charity for All,' by Leslie Adrian. in your edition of January 14. The writer quite rightly points out that the solution to many problems concerned with charitable giving is the use of a discretionary deed of covenant and adds that such arrangements can be made with a bank, a trust company or the FWA. Might I perhaps be permitted to add that the National Council of Social Service is mentioned as a body whose function is apparently limited to supplying lists of charities, whereas its Charities Aid Fund is probably the largest agency operating in the field of discretionary deeds of covenant. The Charities Aid Fund issues up to 2.000 cheques per day to charity, and in 1965 made payments ex- ceeding £1,750,000 to all charitable purposes on behalf of well over 15,000 subscribers. Its sole purpose is to promote and facilitate the distribution of money to charity and it is happy to assist anyone in this process.
