SPECTATOR COMPETITION No. i iI

Set by Lewis Petrie New Year's Day, All Fool's Day, May Day. . . None of the other first days of the month seem to have a title, unless you count All Saints' Day. Competitors are invited, for a prize of £5, which may be divided, to remedy this defect by christening any three first days of the month not mentioned above, supporting their attribution with an explanatory and mnemonic couplet.

Entries must be addressed to the Spectator, 99 Gower Street London, W.C.1, in envelopes marked" Competition," and must be received not later than April 9th. Results will be published in the Spectator of April 18th.
