Deeming was executed in Melbourne on Monday, and is believed

to have died without making any clear confession. He did, however, it is stated, admit that he must, on the evidence, have murdered his wife, Emily Mather, but that he knew nothing of the crime. He is said to have left long letters directed to the newspapers, but it is doubtful if they will be published.
