[TO THE EDITOR OP THE "SrEarsrou.".1 Sin,—In reply to the letter signed "F. B. E." in the Spectator of November 21st, I beg to state that I did not represent Mr. Gladstoneas having invented the phrase "bag and baggage." What I fathered on him was the more definite phrase "turn- ing out the Turks, bag and baggage." I am sorry to trouble you with this trifle; but a Boswell's accuracy, like a soldier's. courage, should be above suspicion.—I am, Sir, &e.,
