the phrase "bag and baggage" used by Mr. Gladstone, permit me to direct the attention of your correspondents Mr. Tollemache and "F. B. E." (Spectator, November 21st) to .As You Like It (III. 2) and Winter's Tale (I. 2). Probably it was a colloquial expression in Shake- speare's days, and has continued to be so ever since.—I am,
