It would be useful to know what censorships still exist
and what have been withdrawn. By all accounts there is a good deal of with- drawing to be done yet. Two cases I have just heard of suggest that rather strongly. An officer in India, writing home to his wife, well after the end of the war with Japan, has his letter read by the censor. An Englishwoman going out to do educational work in Germany is forbidden to disclose to her closest friend or relative the name of the particular official institution that is despatching her. Is there any sense in all this now? I do not refuse to be convinced by sound argument, but it will take some doing. * * * *
