The Waldman says that John Thorogood, the church-rate prisoner, has
been released from Chelmsford Gaol, his friends having paid the rate and costs, in all amounting to 80/., or thereabouts. This is said to have been done without his knowledge or concurrence.
By the Ecclesiastical Duties and Revenues Bill, the Precentor of St. David's, Dr. Llewellyn, is to be created a Dean. The title, therefore, of Precentor will now become extinct, and merge in that of Dean of St. David's,
Mr. John Attwood, the plaintiff in the " rhinoceros case," as Lord Brougham termed it, of Attwood versus Small, has, we are informed, purchased the estate of Sir John Owen, in Pembrokeshire.
