INDIAN CURRENCY COMMISSION.

Quite the most interesting feature of the past week has been the announcement from India of the appointment of a Currency Commission, having for its chairman Lieut.-Commander E. Hilton Young, while other members include Sir Henry Strakoseh, Sir Norcot Warren (Managing Governor of the Imperial Bank of India), and Mr. W. E. Preston, of the Char- tered Bank of India. There are also four Indian representa- tives, and the Terms of Reference quite wisely are of a thoroughly wide character, namely, " to examine and report on the Indian exchange and currency system in practice, to consider whether any modifications are desirable in the interests of India, and to make recommendations."
