Flush In this issue (and I believe also in the
New Statesman) there is a full-page advertisement from ATV, and if anything gladdens my heart more than a full-page advertisement it is a double-page spread. The Listener was also offered this, and refused it on the dignified grounds that it does not accept programme ad- vertisements for Independent Television pro- grammes. So the BBC (which means you) is £144 poorer. The real reason, of course, is that Aunty hopes, if he she keeps very quiet and does nothing and hides her head under the bedclothes, that that nasty vulgar popular Independent Tele- vision will go away. But it won't. Aunty. It won't.
