We have received the reprint of Sir John Lubbock's address
de- livered to the British Association at York last year, under the title of Fifty Years of Science. (Macmillan and Co.)—The art of com- pressing much into a small space, and of being brief without becoming obscure, never surely had a more happy exemplification than in this address. In less than a hundred pages it gives a history, remark- ably complete in its outline, of an advance in science which it would require the compass of an encyclopsedis, to describe in detail.
