net.)—Mr. Briggs has made some very careful drawings, most of them to scale, which give the details and colours of various decorated walls, fountains, seats, and other things. The drawings are beautifully executed, and together with the notes will be of service to designers, for whom the work is intended. The author says truly in his introduction that architects are now turning towards Roman work. This being so it is of great importance that the decoration as well as the structure of that style should be properly understood.
