Sir: I am sure that all pensioners are grateful to our benevolent Prime Minister for the increase in pensions due in early December.
, But have they considered where the money is coming from to finance these wonderful schemes?
1. The privilege of a Christmas bonus has been withdrawn.
2. The privilege of free dental treatment has been withdrawn.
3. The privilege of free spectacles has been withdrawn.
4. The privilege of free monthly treatments by a chiropodist has now been made a two-monthly job.
So there you have it. All these privileges are of great importance to the elderly whose feet, eyes, teeth and Christmas bonus were of great importance and greatly appreciated. This is robbing Peter to pay Paul with a vengeance. If less money were spent on Rolls-Royces for visiting tycoons, the extra money might have been found and less bitterness caused.
