Mr. Bensusan's masterly book on the country, Mr. Vernon's contains plenty of lively chat on both Algeria and Morocco, and in addition he quotes with effect extracts from other writers on that land where French civilization has asserted its dominance over an Arab culture. But very much of the East still remains, and the colour of it is well brought out in the really beautiful illusteations.
