Aminia

From the Revd John Pearce Sir: Mr Powell may well have been right, as well as charitable, when he asked whether the President had taken leave of his senses.

One hesitates to offer a lay diagnosis, but could the trouble be a case of incipient aminia?

This condition is, happily, not frequent, so case-histories are few but the symptoms, inter a/ia, would seem to be a chronic irritability in the patient, with delusions of omnipotence and a preference for a world of unreality, together with an almost total disregard for the feelings and rights of other people.

The prognosis is not good, but shock treatment similar to that first administered at Westminster on November 22, may prove effective if repeated often enough. John Peace 33 Victoria Avenue, Bournemouth
