The Prince of Wales is doing the right thing in
exactly the right way in his tour of the distressed coalfields of Northumberland and Durham. The problem of publicity for this tour was at first not very well handled— or perhaps through nobody's fault the problem proved insoluble. It was obviously necessary to publish the fact that His Royal Highness was visiting these districts or the visit would have failed of its proper effect, but much inconvenience was caused by the publication of the exact itinerary of the opening days of the tour. The result was a crowding by spectators wherever the Prince of Wales went, and he- found it much more difficult than it need have been to make those -unostentatious visits of sympathy of which he has the peculiar art. However, the tour has made a very deep impression. Nor has the impression been only on one side. His Royal Highness himself has evidently been deeply moved by what he has seen.
