Plants Popular with Bees I notice that in answer to

a query what quickly growing hedge plants are popular with bees, the C.G.A. (which has a particular skill in answer- ing difficult questions) suggests that lonicera yunnanense is unique in this regard. I should feel inclined to suggest cotoneaster simonsii, which is certainly better as a hedge than any honeysuckle ; even the too popular L. nitida. C. simonsii is not such a favourite as C. horizontalis, for which hive-bees—and indeed queen wasps—have a passion. They cannot even wait till the flowers open. Has anyone'ever tried a hedge of the sallows and willows that modern—as ancient—beekeepers plant in front of their hives?
