TEE most variable trade that has been experienced for many years, has been felt this spring by most of the wholesale houses in the general and Manchester trades in the City. A great impetus was given to certain branches of manufacture in the early part of the year, and the supply in some instances was considerably behind the demand. Upon the whole, however, tve think the returns made in the gross, will not be found be- hind those of last year up to this period, by the majority of firms.
