(d.)—We found this volume very dull. Its intentions arc eommendable, but to books about books there almost always clings a steneh of midnight oil. Further we disagree in Mr. Stevenson's estimate of Mr. Bliss Carman's beautiful British Columbian poems-- - there is a very fine one about the Okanagan 'alley. Mr. Conan Doyle wrote sonic verses on " The Yukon Trail," which we wish we could recollect. They were read at some luncheon in Edmonton, but have not, we think, been published.
