THE MODERATE PARTY.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR."]

see from your advertising columns of August 23rd that an appeal is issued inviting the public to join the so-called Moderate Party. The third item of its programme is the confiscation of all property exceeding £100,000 in individual hands. If wholesale robbery of this kind (to be enforced by a penalty of two years' hard labour for evasion) is moderation, what do the Extreme Party propose? A party founded on robbery will hardly appeal to honest men.—I am, Sir, &c.,
