Kaunda's kwacha

Sir: Today I took two Zambia notes (one kwacha and fifty ngwee, if that helps) for ex- change to the bank on behalf of a pupil at this school normally resident in Zambia.

Under Exchange Control Regulations I was advised that they could not be exchanged with- out production of the presenter's passport and proof that they belonged to a bona fide traveller who had entered from Zambia within the past month. It is trying enough to account for one's own currency when going out of the uic but without, I trust, infringing the latest Race Rela- tions Act, I should like to ask .why we have to deal with Mr Kaunda's fiscal problems.
