A long official report has been published upon the gold-diggings
recently discovered in La Chandler°, in French Canada. The drift of the information collected by Mr. F. T. Judah, Clerk to the Crown domains, is that the average out-turn per man does not much exceed eight shillings per day ; but in exceptional cases and for limited periods the miners' receipts have risen to five pounds a day. The extent of the gold-field seems undetermined, and as the miners are all habitans, perfect order prevails.
