We publish under the heading "Roads and their Users" the
first of a series of articles by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, the well-known expert on our roads, our motor-cars, and the whole problem of transportation, whether by earth, sea, or air. The Spectator, though it has always taken a great interest in transportation, has, we feel, too long refrained from a continuity of specific comment on these matters, and especially on the matter of road transport. The elimination of wasted energy is the problem of the hour, and door-to-door transport is one of the most important elements in its solution. Therefore, we must attend to our roads and their users. There is a magic in the King's Highway.
