There has been little notable literature on the subject of

dogs. Miss Menzies has gathered together what there is, and has eked it out with affectionate tributes in prose and verse. To a lover of dogs the passage at once most appealing and most challenging will be the quotation from Sir John Harington : " Now let Ulysses praise his Dog Argus, or Tobit be led by that Dog whose name doth not appear ; yet could I say such things of my Bungey as might shame them both, either for good faith, clear wit, or wonderful deeds."
