COMMUNISM AND PEACE
SIR,—In your leading article of August 27th, entitled Communism and Peace, I was dismayed to find expression given to the idea that "Com- munism in Russia is Russia's own affair, and no one here would be justified in trying to interfere with it even if he could." Is it really enough if citizens of the Western democracies try to combat this evil merely in their own lands? Assuredly it is the plain duty of Christians and responsible citizens of the West to remove this and any other scourge from the face of the earth, wherever it may exist.—! am, Sir, your obedient servant, JOHN CHALDECOTT.
