Dear diary

Sir: You should have Joan Collins write the Diary on a regular basis (21 March). It was a delight to read. Unlike some of your other diarists, no references to boring politicians, minor aristocrats or name-drop- ping journalists. Actually, the thought struck me, how come her books are so unreadable and yet her first Diary is so delightfully witty?
