Gavotte in E Minor. By E. Silas. (Ashdown and Parry.)—Daring
the last few years this form of composition has gained groat favour, with many composers who take the old masters for their model. The construction in too many oases presents so much plagiarism, that little can be said for the modern composer, beyond the possession of a slight idea of originality in molody, and this to a limited extent. Mr. Silas has succeeded to giving the pianoforte student a pleasing piece of this kind, at the same time lacking originality and brightness.
