As we go to press we learn with deep regret
that Mr. Joseph Chamberlain died on Thursday night in London. We cannot attempt to write now of the fame and the significance of a career which for more than a generation luta been one of the most powerful directing forces in Imperial politics, home politics, and also in a very special sense in municipal affairs. We must leave our estimate of that career till next week, expressing now only our most sincere sympathy with Mr. Chamberlain's family.
