THE PARKING OF MOTORS • [To the Editor of the

SIR,--Probably the majority of Londoners will resent Lord Montagu's proposed desecration of our squares by the parking of cars in them. Whether the squares are walked in or not. they give relief and pleasure to all passers and are, with the parks, about the most cherished amenities of this old town. The parks have been injured by the invasion of petrol-driven carriages, and should not be made still more squalid. Such motorists as see nature only through their goggles earn for themselves a place among those who have made England much uglier. Everything cannot be subordinated to their convenience.—I am, Sir, &c., X.
