Malay runs amok

Sir: The old East Africa Standard in Nairo- bi, under the command of its then editor, Colonel Kenneth Bolton, was a great believer in the Daily Telegraph style book (Ronald Payne, 'Putting on the style', 27 September). Mingi Tusker baridi were swilled in the starlight on the night the subs were able to write the heading 'Malay runs amok in Mombasa' on what was, other- wise, a lacklustre tale of domestic mayhem at the coast during the suicide months.
