Mr. Hunt has succeeded in his desire to." communicate some of the atmosphere of the time" 'to his narrative; and his book may serve as a temporary respite from those "fearful thoughts of the war in Europe" which, as he tells us in his preface, are now occupying the minds of all Americans.
