Zola's wonderful. chart of the Rougon-Macquart family is equalled in
interest by many of the cases given in Feeble- Mindedness : its Causes and Consequences, by Henry Herbert Goddard (Macmillan and Co., 17s. net). Dr. Goddard, who is the Director of the research laboratory of the Vineland Train- ing School in New Jersey, here presents the family history of three hundred and twenty-seven boys and girls in that institution, and discusses the application of the Mendelian theory to feeble-mindedness. His book is a most interesting and valuable contribution to the literature of this subject.
