(Rivingtons.)—The book of which specimens are here given was a "Prayer-Book in English for the use of the Laity, containing the Calendar, Hours of the Virgin, the Lord's Prayer, the Ten Commandments, the Creed," &c. It is supposed to belong to the year 1400 A.D., or thereabouts, and is one of the very few remaining specimens of the pre-Reformation books of private devotion.
