Arch- bishop Whately. (Longman and Co.)—This little volume contains such of Dr. Whately's unpublished discourses as had not been substan- tially given to the world in his various writings. They are marked by that superabundant clearness and power of homely ffiustration which are the chief features of his style. Perhaps the sermon on behalf of tho Society for Protecting the Rights of Conscience is the most remarkable of this collection.
