Roger's file
I AM delighted that my regular reader Roger Cooper will now get his Spectator more promptly. When we were at Oxford, I persuaded Boffins the bakers to bake a loaf for Roger, with a file in it. He had been detained in Hungary, where he had gone to see what was happening in the 1956 revolution. Happily he never needed to file his way to freedom — by the time the loaf was ready, the Hungarians had released him, and I brought it to his coming-out party. I thought it unwise to try a loaded loaf on Evin prison, so to this coming out party I shall have to bring Bollinger.
