The caricatures of that brilliant Serbian painter and sculptor "

Sava " are introduced to the public with an interesting preface by Sir Edmund Gosse. Benito Mussolini and George Robey arc among the best of his Twenty-Five Caricatures (Elkin Mathews. 25s.). But Miss Sybil Thorn- dyke as Joan of Arc, with Mr. Ernest Thcsiger in the background, is a study whose wit, technique and amazing dexterity put " Sava " in the front rank of caricaturists. And the study of Sir Conan Doyle leaning forward earnestly, out of a kind of spiritist murk, is wonderfully clever.
