At the end of last week the Liberal Party held
a great convention at the Kingsway Hall. Some 2,000 delegates were present from all over the country. Mr. Asquith was in the chair supported by Mr. Lloyd George. The convention was assembled to consider the report of the Committee which was appointed by Mr. Asquith just after the election to overhaul the whole party machinery. The occasion seems to have been a pleasant and cheerful one. There were cordial scenes between Mr. Asquith and Mr. Lloyd George, and the unity of the party was affirmed on all sides. The impression which we get from reading the report of the conference was that in all the business of organization and political administra- tion, the experienced Liberal chiefs showed that they had lost none of their ability. It has been decided to attempt to raise one million pounds as a fighting fund.
