I beg to say the word is to be found in Pegges Alphabet of " Kenticisms" (p. 53) and Collection of Proverbial Sayings Used in Kent, edited by my lamented brother-in-law, the late Professor Skeet, thus : "' Skivers' sb. pl. skewers, they sometimes say skive's.
