I advise readers of this column who appreciate polemic writing

not to miss the editorial in the current Nineteenth Century on "The Obscurantists "—certain writers of the Left to whom the Editor of the Nineteenth Century devotes a singularly pungent pen. Without necessarily endorsing all his strictures I recommend the article as one of the most trenchant pieces of writing I have come across for some time.
