Birds of Western Africa, by WILLIAM SWAINSON, Esq., is the

subject of the Seventeenth Volume of that cheap and elegant pub- lication "The Naturalist's Library." The individual birds de- scribed are more various, and we think more numerous, than in preceding volumes; and they are touched off with the zeal and knowledge of an ardent naturalist. The author has also prefixed an introduction, on the nature of his task ; and Mr. Ceicerroat has given a favourable biographical notice of BRUCE, whose weight of character as a traveller has proeured him a place in this volume.
