Cornwall's proud

From Mr William Shawcross Sir: Your correspondent Tom Palmer ('Hothouse of hate', 22 February) is quite wrong to dump all over the Eden Project in Cornwall because of a few misplaced words. The statistics in question were indeed inaccurate and had, I am informed, been removed before the article appeared.

The Eden Project is a fantastic achievement. Its glass 'biomes' are objects of great beauty, its plants and trees form a unique collection, it employs more than 600 people, it has already attracted more than 4 million visitors, and it has given a great boost to one of the poorest areas of England. It is, in short, the complete opposite of the Dome — a marvellous success, of which Cornwall is very proud.
