The chief gains in Scotland have been the seat for
West Edinburgh, wrested by Lord Wolmer from Mr. Buchanan, where Lord Wolmer has transformed a minority of 54 into a majority of 512, and the seat for Peebles and Selkirk. In Central Edinburgh, the Gladstonians gained ground. In both South and East Edinburgh, though they retain their seats, their majority has dwindled. In Glasgow, too, and at Perth, we have gained a seat, but only through the divided state of the Gladstonian Party.
