Instead of a Guy Fawkes, some persons in the City

carried about a figure intended to represent the "Scarlet Lady," on Tuesday last, the 5th of November.

On Wednesday, many boys were sent to the treadmill from the E. ferent police-offices, as a punishment for discharging squibs and crackers in the streets on the previous night.

On Friday last, Joseph Miller, a clerk in the Colonial Office, eoio. mitted suicide. A Coroner's Jury found a verdict of " Temporary hi, sanity." It appeared that Miller was in embarrassed circumstances which occasioned extreme distress of mind.
