out that Mrs. Margaret Knight's treatment of Nansen's character is a deliberate suggestio falsi.

By suppressing the fact that Nansen carried a Bible on the Fram and that lie and his crew read it regularly throughout the three years of the memo- rable voyage ('We learned it all off by heart,' Nanscn said), Mrs. Kr. ')t is refusing to give us a balanced picture of this great man's attitude.

He was not an orthodox Christian. But it is very clear that he was not the. patron demon of the godless.
