Euripides : Hercules Furens. By E. H. Blakeney, M.A. (W.

Blackwood and Sons. 2s. 6d.)—We are seldom able to notice school-books, even when their merits are considerable. But we must find space for a few lines on this very good edition of a play which is hardly studied as much as it deserves. The editor com- bines an exact scholarship—particularly visible in his treatment of the use of particles and other grammatical niceties—with a large range of illustrative knowledge. History, philosophy, anthropology, are called on to contribute, and the result is that we get an annotation of unusual interest and value.
